Isuzu Cummins Powertrain Partnership
Driving Innovation in Advanced Diesel Technology Solutions

Isuzu Commercial Trucks of America, Inc. partnered with Cummins Inc., in May 2019 to form the Isuzu Cummins Powertrain Partnership (ICPP). The aim of the partnership is to create opportunities to develop and bring new diesel and alternative powertrains to global markets. Under this collaboration agreement, Cummins is providing Isuzu mid-range B6.7 diesel platforms for use in medium-size Isuzu trucks to meet global customer needs.

Isuzu and Cummins also partnered in an Advanced Technology Agreement to conduct joint research for various powertrain technologies using the companies’ respective advanced engineering capabilities. Both companies are committed to further enhance efficiency and emissions capability of their advanced diesel products. As part of the path to carbon neutral, Isuzu and Cummins have recently expanded their partnership discussions to include new power sources, including electrical powertrain technologies.

Cummins and Isuzu continue to innovate and advance the future power sources for commercial vehicles in terms of power, quality, reliability, emissions and fuel efficiency.

Cummins Engine Featured in 2022 Isuzu F-Series Trucks

The Cummins B6.7 diesel engine is featured in the new 2022 Isuzu F-Series trucks.  This is the first product to come to market globally from the ICPP.  Frank’s Isuzu in Lyndhurst, NJ, is proud to supply these great new trucks to Lyndhurst, Newark, Jersey City, NJ, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Staten Island, Long Island, the Bronx, NY and beyond.

About the 2022 F-Series

The 2022 F-series featuring a Cummins B6.7 diesel will be available in two models: the Class 6 FTR (25,950 – GVWR) and the Class 7 FVR (33,000 – GVWR). The lineup also includes a de-rated Class 6 FVR.

A total of eight wheelbases will be available for both models and the low cab forward’s larger cab-to-axle space will provide the Isuzu F-Series with more cargo capacity compared to other conventional cab competitors with similar wheelbases. This offers more versatility with body application choices to help accommodate heavier and more spacious cargo loads.

Both the FTR and FVR will keep the Isuzu promise and standard of superb maneuverability, visibility and comfort. The 50-degree inner wheel cut will give the Isuzu F-Series a turning diameter between 43.7-ft and 65-ft. This series’ exquisite visibility is made possible by the low cab forward-design and new LED headlamps. Both FTR and FVR models also feature a new interior design with dual-tone trim and seating that enhances its aesthetic and comfort for passengers.

Cummins B6.7 Powertrain

The Cummins B6.7 is mated to an automatic six-speed Allison RDS Transmission, and this robust powertrain is built to provide drivers the power needed while also offering fuel efficiency and the reliability drivers and business owners need to get the job done.

With 260 horsepower and 660ft-lbs of torque, this offers drivers the highest horsepower and torque available from the Cummins B6.7. This power increase in the Isuzu F-Series will move heavier payloads more easily in urban environments and over the road between distribution centers.
